Medical Dermatology

Medical Dermatology encompasses a wide range of conditions affecting the skin, hair and nails.
The significance of skin problems is often underestimated. For those who experience skin diseases, the reality is that these conditions are often distressing, and can make day to day living difficult. Furthermore, skin conditions often affect appearance, self-esteem and psychological wellbeing.
The dermatologists at Sky Blue Dermatology are passionate about managing both common, everyday skin problems and more complex skin diseases. Most skin problems do not require the “latest technology”. Rather, they require a doctor prepared to take the time to listen to your story, enquire, examine and form a diagnosis and management plan.
While this approach is at the core of how we practice, dermatology is an evolving speciality. At Sky Blue Dermatology the specialists and nurses pursue ongoing education to keep informed of the latest developments.
In recent times, remarkable advances have been witnessed in medical dermatology. Scientists have unravelled the nature of many disease processes. These discoveries have been translated into the development of new therapies that have transformed the lives of patients with common skin conditions. For example, a class of medications referred to as “biologics” are now available for patients with severe psoriasis and eczema.
Regular Skin Checks
Prevention and early detection are very important. Regular skin checks to diagnose melanoma at an early stage, and other skin cancers will result in the best possible outcome.
